26. Milano : an historical palace in the heart of the Brera district !
Via Pontaccio, 12, 20121 Milano, Italia

Palazzo Crivelli, located in the heart of the Brera district, a short walk from the Fashion District, considered one of the most prestigious buildings of the 17th/18th century, is head office of the Italian auction house Il Ponte. The Palazzo, built between 1658 and 1705, is characterized by a sober and elegant facade where, the main entrance is overlooked by a balcony with a forged iron balustrade. After crossing the main door, the frescoed halls, the sumptuous staircase, the silent galleries of the main courtyard and the amazing garden, exceptional in size and luxuriance can host exhibitions, conferences, fashion shows, photo shoots, presentations, providing a sophisticated environment, elegant and at the same time discreet. The magnificent rococo staircase leads to the first floor where a small reception room opens into the Hall of the Caesars, the ballroom of the Palazzo. In this great hall the visitor’s eyes are captured by a huge chandelier hanging from the centre of the ceiling. The walls are decorated with a series of medallions with classic profiles and gold details and decorations; a marble fireplace, dominated by a large mirror, the large windows and the small balcony overlooking the amazing garden, silent and dormant in winter, joyful and lively in the warmer months, add a domestic atmosphere. The neoclassical style of the decor confers a sought after understated elegance. In this magnificent setting where nowadays auctions are held, the Milanese nobility used to dance to a minuet or a waltz!
